Woodhouse partnered with Alstom to deliver a transformative refurbishment of their office space within the historic Crewe Works site. The project involved creating a progressive design for a 20,000 sq ft area that supports Alstom’s growth plans and future vision. Through close collaboration with Alstom’s team, the refurbishment successfully unites displaced teams, integrates sustainable principles, and enhances the digital experience. The result is an inspiring, future-ready workspace that reflects Alstom’s values and heritage.

The design brief focused on creating an inspiring environment that promotes collaboration, sustainability, and a seamless digital experience. It also credits the building's striking industrial heritage: stripping it back to its former steam locomotive manufacturing and repair facility by exposing the striking structure.
The ground floor features an open plan office area, meeting rooms and a fantastic reception area that provides a great welcome experience for visitors and clients. Furthermore, a large breakout and teapoint space, giving greater opportunity for staff to collaborate and connect with each other. A mezzanine floor has been installed that accommodates a suite of meeting rooms, and new MEP systems have been implemented, improving the building's overall functionality.
Alongside the office works, Alstom invested a new train component overhaul and repair facility, which will create around 110 new roles, and enable them to better serve customers across the country with enhanced capacity and capability.
