Meet Vyshali, our Creative Director here at Woodhouse! A lively, passionate and very creative individual, she leads the design side of all our workspace projects. Now a few words from her herself...

With over twenty years design experience, I have gained extensive knowledge of workplace environments, and have designed and managed many projects from small to large scale with both global and local companies, and corporations within a variety of industry sectors. Originally from a traditional design background, I have been fortunate to work at some inspiring architecture and interior practices which has given me a large breadth of knowledge and experience. My passion is in retrofit, bringing old buildings back to life.

What is your role at Woodhouse?

I lead teams and projects with passion, drive and creativity at the forefront of every endeavour. Mentoring and collaboration is key to how I work with the team and clients. I always look for ways in which we can all co-create, learn, share, motivate & inspire to create truly amazing places and spaces.

My aim with every project is to:

- Always fulfil the client’s aspirations in creating the most people-centric, productive and innovative workplace possible
- To give power to place – where community and collaboration is enhanced and has a real positive impact on people.
- To create a destination that people want to go to and experience

What do you do outside of work?

London is my home town, place of birth and where I now live with my family. I spend as much quality time with my husband and son that I can! We stay busy on the weekend, going to exhibitions or walking around the city or big green spaces! Designer by day, artist by night, I paint – something I took back up in lockdown and have continued to develop in my spare time.  I wanted to study Fine Art but also loved architecture so now I am determined to work on both!

What is your favourite case study?

One of my favourite Woodhouse projects is Horseferry Road in London. This is a wonderful example of how an old, disused building with heaps of history and heritage has been transformed into a contemporary space. Woodhouse has taken a bold architectural intervention and created a light-filled double-height space that enhances connection and creates a truly dynamic space for people to experience. It is a powerful example of how the power of great design and embracing the principles of retro-fit can not only enhance the original architectural features but also create something contemporary - creating a smart and sustainable solution.

I love photography and sketching – especially taking pictures of people and how they engage with interior spaces and architecture, big skies and street photography. On my way to work I try and sketch at least one person on the tube a day.

At work, my sketches develop from hand drawn quick doodles to creations in Procreate. It’s important for me to be able to convey big ideas and spaces in sketch format before we translate our design ideas into Revit and more structured design outputs such as visualisations.
