High above most of London’s roofs, we were joined by 70+ attendees, guest speakers and Woodhouse team members to explore a key topic in today’s work world: What does workspace success look like – now and in the future?
With guest speakers from easyJet and CAE Technology, together with our valued associate workplace strategist, Dr Nigel Oseland, we were able to explore key topics as well as review stand-out successes from recent workspace changes that we have implemented for easyJet.
– Identifying the true measurements of workspace success is critical
– Workspace design should be tailored to make every team feel like the office is 'home'
– Multi-functional communal space increases the value and viability of available space
– A smart building interconnects multiple systems for sustainable building management and flexible IT access for users
– Creation of a successful and vibrant workplace must start with desired behaviours
Mary Sykes, our much-loved Enterprise Consultant, chaired the event, opening it with a thought-provoking section on how we now measure workspace success. With the recognised value of the office being to maintain cultural cohesion, she questioned whether our metrics for workspace success had changed to reflect this.
Next up, our Senior Interior Designer was joined by easyJet’s leading property manager to present key insights from some recent updates to the easyJet property portfolio.
It was fascinating to hear how easyJet has transformed aging properties to meet the current and emerging needs of their teams. And in doing so, they have restored the relevance of the office as a place to collaborate, deepen relationships, and experience organic learning and development. It was also very impressive to hear how the tonal character of individual spaces were tailored to the nature of the teams that occupied them, yet an overall cohesiveness of design was still maintained across the whole building.
With the experiences shared and the images shown, it was easy to get a sense of the brand experience that the revamped workspaces now provide.
Guest speakers from CAE Technology then spoke on the subject of how technology empowers workspace success, and the way it can enhance in-person togetherness. Before they really got into this subject, though, CAE’s co-founder shared just how much their workspace transformation has enhanced cultural cohesion within their organisation. He emphasised the variety of space types that facilitate interaction of all sizes and at all levels, all surrounding the central big social space that draws everyone together.
On the subject of smart buildings, they emphasised the importance of sustainability, convergence and recognising the future of work, when approaching technology. And they also highlighted that the network has become the convergence point for all smart building processes and systems.
Last up, Dr Nigel Oseland spoke about the importance of workplace strategy in achieving workspace success. In his remarks, he highlighted the need to start with your organisation’s aspiration for a meaningful office experience, rather than basing strategy on how the working day functions at present. Most businesses recognise that an enhanced workplace vibe requires some changed behaviours. In the Woodhouse Workplace Dynamics phase, which Dr Nigel is involved in delivering, we provide support to develop the required behaviours that will contribute to an energised workplace atmosphere.

Each section included a stimulating Q&A session, bringing out fresh insights from both the speakers and audience members.
Both before and after the main seminar presentation, there was vibrant and constructive networking with opportunities to share experiences. It was great to see so many workplace-related leaders and specialists in one room and the event was a great success.
